Roughing and carving…
Started my next guitar project- a Gig Pro for Raffi Mandalian. I picked out some super maple, and the soundboard is OLD and dry. These pics are rough cutting, machining dimensioning etc. The plates come off the machining table looking quite clean, and ready for hand work and tweaking. I do all my own CAD and computer design. I have my plates designed quite accurately, with the proper graduations required for a very resonant plate. The plates are thicker in the center and gradually and evenly become thinner toward the edges. The machining table has been a real godsend for me and my back / arm / elbow issues. Besides it’s insane accuracy, physically I wouldnt be able to build guitars without it. My elbow is long ago blown out from endless sanding and carving.
