Brooklyn to Queens! Another new VB Shop!!!

Heres some pictures of what Ive been up to the last month. By pure happenstance my wife inquired about available space at a local building in my neighborhood in Queens. It’s called Astoria Soundworks and hosts a whole slew of music type businesses such as several recording studios and rehearsal spaces. By chance they had a cool corner space opening up, and since my lease is up in Brooklyn we decided to make a move on it. The shop I’m at now in Brooklyn is a share with a bunch of cabinet makers, and this new shop will be private which is gonna be MUCH better. Actually it will be dual use for me and my wife, who will use the big light filled windows and high ceilings for doing her portrait work and actor headshots. Its a big beautiful space full of light, and is 2-1/2 block walk from my apartment- no more commuting on the BQE!!! It was raw and needed a couple rooms and a staircase, so thats what Ive been up to the last few weeks. Framing and drywall… more framing and drywall. All done solo by yours truly. I had a rigging company move my cnc’s steel frame in via crane (too big for the elevator) and I will be moving the rest of my tools in later this week. Woohoo! Its been pretty rough but I’m keeping my eye on the prize. This will be the nicest shop I’ve had. Sorry to all my clients that I’ve made wait for stuff. The end is in sight and I will be back on track soon. This space was too cool to pass up. SCORE.
